This Week in Heart Mastery: From Regret to Release, A Classic Remastered, and How We Create Suffering

Dear Reader,

The Camino has a way of telling the truth without words. Step after step, it has shown me the difference between the pain life brings and the suffering I was adding on top—most of it woven from my own regret.

I learned this the hard way after my sister died. The pain asked for presence. The suffering asked for release. On the trail, with long hours to listen, I began to put down what wasn’t mine to carry. By the time I reached Finisterre, the true end of the Camino, I felt light as a feather.

Tomorrow’s Heartstream explores this practice of laying down unnecessary suffering. If you've been carrying the pain of regret from past mistakes, come join us. Also, I may lead a small group pilgrimage again in 2026—if that calls to you, please get in touch, or simply stay tuned.

🌿 The Week in Heart Mastery: Your Practice Round-up

Here are the key teachings and practices I've cooked up for you:

🎧 1. New Guided Meditation: The Healing Power of the Sacred Heart (2025 Remastered)

This is a 2025 remastered version of my previously recorded, 'Healed by the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ'. You can use this meditation to help heal any physical, mental or emotional condition you might be currently experiencing. The three phrases I use during this process were revealed to me as I invited the Divine Love of Christ into my heart.

In case you missed it, in this week's article I go deeper than the typical “all suffering is self-created” platitudes. I want to show you exactly how we create unnecessary suffering, using stories from my own life and my students’ experiences. More importantly, I want to give you a practical way to recognize these patterns and begin releasing them.

Dear Reader, I'm sending you this weekly update from the town of Monchique, Portugal, where I'm attending a music retreat for facilitators and ceremonial leaders. The retreat focuses on healing the parts of ourselves that keep us from expressing ourselves fully and authentically. We've just completed the first two days, and it's already been deeply transformative. The work we're doing is based on IFS (Internal Family Systems), a therapeutic framework for understanding, embracing, and...

Have you ever caught yourself doing this? You say you want intimacy, yet the moment someone gets close enough to truly see you—to witness your fears, your wounds, your unpolished edges—you find ways to push them away. You become critical. You get “busy.” You convince yourself they’re not quite right. Or maybe you simply shut down, your body going cold even as your heart aches for connection. If you recognize this pattern, I need you to hear something: you’re not broken. You’re not incapable...

Dear Reader, Earlier this week, my brother sent me an old photograph. A family portrait during a cruise in the Caribbean when I was about nine. We're all smiling at the camera. I'm the little guy in the back, just my head visible, hiding behind everyone else. Back then, that feeling of loneliness and being invisible, even when surrounded by family, felt like a punishment. A curse. Something broken that desperately needed to be fixed. So I tried to fill that void with achievements, endless...
